heterogeneous IT systems is one of the great
challenges facing companies today. This is
especially true when integrating Product Lifecycle
Management (PLM) solutions and other
business-critical applications such as ERP, SCM or

To better drive synergy between the technical and

AG have signed a cooperative agreement. This
agreement involves integrating connectors from the
PLM integration platform OpenPDM® developed by
PROSTEP with WBI in such a way that they optimize
the use of the comprehensive functionality offered
by IBM middleware. This means the IBM and PROSTEP
collaboration will provide a powerful EAI solution
that can meet the needs of both large corporations
and small and medium-sized companies. As an IBM
Business Partner, the Darmstadt-headquartered PLM
specialists will also provide WBI users with the
services they need to help them integrate their
PDM/PLM applications.“OpenPDM enabled WBI
brings commercial information and engineering data
together, managing it in a consistent environment
that allows a connection between global process
integration and local interaction to be created at

customers. The workflow and mapping tools in WBI
allow extremely complex process requirements to be
satisfied.
IBM WebSphere Business Integration Server is
the most comprehensive solution portfolio for
integrating applications and business processes on
the market today. WBI enables a smooth flow of
information and execution of business processes
over all applications and therefore also
facilitates cross-enterprise B2B integration with
partners, suppliers and customers. The business
processes are modeled graphically and can be
simulated according to parameters that can be set
as individual needs dictate. WBI monitors the
correct execution of the processes and offers
tools for dynamic process analysis that allow a
fast and flexible response to changing conditions.
The OpenPDM® product family from PROSTEP is an
integration solution for product data from
different PDM, ERP or legacy systems which
provides field-tested connectors to leading PDM
systems such as ENOVIAVPM, ENOVIALCA and SMARTEAM,
which are IBM PLM solutions developed by Dassault
Systèmes or UGS Teamcenter , MatrixOne, mySAP PLM,
Windchill and Pro/INTRALINK. OpenPDM® supports the
exchange and availability of relevant PDM
information such as part and document master data,
product and model structures, configuration
information and release statuses and ensures
consistent and conflict-free access to the
systems.
The architecture of OpenPDM® is based on
application server technology with a powerful Web

STEP product data standard with those of the XML
Internet standard, thus allowing the
