Agile Software and Lucent Technologies Recognized by APICS for Technology Partnership Excellence

Partnership Acknowledged for Significant Contributions and Performance Excellence in Resource Management
San Jose, CA - December 20, 2004 – Agile Software Corporation (NASDAQ: AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, today announced that its work with Lucent Technologies has been recognized by the Educational Society for Resource Management (APICS) for Technology Partnership excellence. The APICS Technology Partnership Award recognizes a collaborative effort between a technical provider and a corporate customer, where the combined efforts increase a company’s success.

Agile and Lucent worked together to implement a PLM solution that assisted Lucent’s move from a vertical to a virtual manufacturing model. This was done using Agile PLM, which provides shared visibility of the product record by the partners and suppliers, enabling a completely virtual supply network. Key to becoming a virtual network was the visibility provided by Agile’s suite of PLM solutions, including Agile Product Collaboration and Agile Product Cost Management. Agile Product Collaboration provides visibility into the product record and Agile Product Cost Management provides visibility into supplier contract pricing, enabling Lucent to better analyze and manage aggregated projected direct material spend. These solutions helped Lucent integrate its contract-manufacturing partners into the supply chain and coordinate product information throughout the manufacturing process.

“Agile Software’s work with Lucent Technologies increased and perpetuated Lucent’s level of success in a time of a major business model change,” said Arnold E. Kennedy, APICS board of directors president. “The APICS Technology Partnership Award honors only the most outstanding successes in the industry, and we were delighted to recognize that Agile’s work with Lucent lived up to these utmost standards.”

The APICS judging panel composed of certified industry experts, industry analysts, media representatives and academicians selected Agile Software’s work with Lucent Technologies as runner up for the Technology Partnership of Excellence award based on originality, usefulness to the client, supplier performance and development, service performance and future impact.

“Companies transitioning to a more virtual environment, like Lucent, face dramatic organizational changes that extend all the way through the supply chain,” said Bryan Stolle, Agile CEO. “PLM is a foundational technology for enabling this transformation, ensuring a smoother transition with visibility into the process, and delivering on reduced time-to-market, improved quality and better margins. We are honored by APICS' recognition of our work with Lucent Technologies and our continued commitment to our customers.”
