SofTech's ProductCenter AutoVue Integrator Now Available

SofTech Provides Seamless Integration to AutoVue for the Immediate Benefit of Advanced Collaboration
TEWKSBURY, Mass.  – May 20, 2004 -  SofTech, Inc. (OTCBB: SOFT), a leading provider of design-through-manufacturing productivity solutions today announced its new ProductCenter™ AutoVue Integrator is now shipping, which pairs SofTech’s ProductCenter PLM (product lifecycle management) solution with Cimmetry System’s AutoVue® visualization and collaboration technology. Integration of AutoVue technology with ProductCenter PLM extends the collaboration capabilities of ProductCenter, complementing its document management, design integration, configuration control, change management, and enterprise integration capabilities.

“ Many people talk about the benefits of collaboration but really don’t understand how to put it into practice, especially among companies with geographically dispersed product teams,” states Jay Pappas, ProductCenter product manager. “There are very valuable benefits to be gained by tapping into the collective resources of your extended product teams as early as possible. ProductCenter and AutoVue support your ability to do this with ease.”

ProductCenter PLM with AutoVue allows 'meeting attendees' to collaborate online without need of a face-to-face meeting. This solution facilitates communication and collaboration between extended product team members, as well as helps capture those all-important lessons learned for future efforts. During virtual online meetings attendees can brainstorm, chat, apply sticky notes, explore, and cooperatively mark-up 2D drawings, 3D models, Office documents, ECAD PCB/IC layouts, and others without need of the original authoring application. In fact, over 450 different file formats are supported. For added security corporate extranets can also be put to use to plug customers and suppliers into the information loop.

After the meeting, mark-ups can be then saved and stored in ProductCenter and linked to the original document for a detailed record of the product history. The results of the virtual meeting can be saved and become the basis for creating an engineering change request or can be used to clarify a design decision early in the design process between engineering and a remote supplier. The change request can also be launched for processing via ProductCenter™ Workflow, shaving considerable time off traditional review cycles.
