Agile Delivers on Commitment to Complex Engineering-Oriented Manufacturers

Agile Announces General Availability of Agile e5.1
San Jose, CA  – April 28, 2004 -  Agile Software Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, today announced the general availability of Agile e5.1, developed specifically to meet the unique needs of manufacturers in complex engineering industries such as aerospace and defense, automotive and industrial products. The release of Agile e5.1 marks Agile’s continued commitment and investment in customers and markets that came to Agile through the acquisition of Eigner. Agile e5.1 has been shipped to more than twenty customers including Carl Zeiss, E.G.O., Elektro-Geraete GmbH, FTE Automotive GmbH, Guala Closures S.p.A., Dr. Johannes Heidenhain GmbH, Hirschmann Electronics GmbH & Co. KG, Kollmorgen Electro-Optical, Müller Weingarten AG, Tellabs Operations, ThyssenKrupp Hüller Hille GmbH and VEMAG Maschinenbau GmbH.

Agile e5.1 provides discrete manufacturers with a comprehensive, scalable set of capabilities for managing the complete product lifecycle—from initial customer requirements through service and support. New capabilities in Agile e5.1 include collaboration functionality to view and redline product record information with just a Web client, and a Web development toolkit which enables companies to easily create custom Web applications in order to better leverage their product record information. Additionally, Agile continues to deliver solutions that combine best-in-class Agile and Eigner technologies, with the integration of Agile e5.1 and Agile Product Portfolio Management. This integration enables organizations to make better, more informed decisions with enhanced visibility into programs and resources across their entire product portfolio. Agile e5.1 also adds support for the current releases of operating systems including Windows, HP-UX, Solaris, IBM AIX and Linux, and databases including Oracle and SQL Server.

“We spoke with representatives from Agile’s top management last year after they acquired Eigner, and they assured us that the technology investment that we made would continue to be enhanced, supported and maintained. Agile has delivered on their promise with this release. We are especially excited with the functionality that is now offered with the integration between Agile e5.1 and Agile Product Portfolio Management,” said Wolfgang Kartmann, CIO, PLM 1 Division, Siemens Automation and Drives. “This new solution will provide Siemens A&D with tight integration of program information with the product record, enabling us to maximize resource utilization and give us cross-program and multi-enterprise visibility and decision support across the product lifecycle.”

“With Agile e5.1’s Web development toolkit, we were able to design a front end that was compliant with our own corporate design standards without affecting our original PLM implementation.” said Christian Pölzl, CIO, VA TECH ELIN EBG. “With the Web development toolkit, we were able to easily create individual applications that allow even users who have not worked with PLM before—from board members to the administrative staff—very simple access to product record information.”

"Agile is committed to the ongoing success of our customers, our Eigner legacy and our Agile future. The release of Agile e5.1 is part of our ongoing effort to bring Agile and Eigner technologies together to deliver industry-specific functionality requested by customers such as Siemens Automotive and Drives and VA TECH," said Chris Wong, Agile’s chief product officer. “This release was truly a global project and is a demonstration of how we leverage our resources and expertise worldwide, as Agile team members from the U.S., China, Germany and India all contributed to this effort.”
