Xyron and X Product Development Select PTC® Product Development System

PDS Seen as Key to Increasing Productivity and Innovation in Expanded Product Development Efforts
Needham, MA, February 04, 2004 - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the product development company™, today announced that Xyron, a global manufacturer of supplies for the office, school and craft markets, and its sister company, X Product Development (XPD), a leading design and innovation firm, have collaboratively purchased PTC’s Product Development System solution to increase product design efficiency and innovation. The agreement was completed in PTC’s first quarter of fiscal year 2004 ended January 3, 2004.

Xyron and XPD, which maintain manufacturing, sales and distribution locations in California, Texas, Denmark, United Kingdom, China and Tokyo, purchased Windchill ProjectLink™ and Windchill PDMLink™ with related training and support services. Both companies, recently acquired by Esselte, the leading global office supplies manufacturer, have consequently, been called on to support product development activities for a portfolio that is more than 20 times that of Xyron’s original product line – with the same amount of resources.

"X Product Development is all about running flat out to drive innovative products to market fast," says David Aitchison, Director of Product Development at XPD. "That takes good people and good communication with everyone from marketing to manufacturing looking at the same page. The Product Development System from PTC gives us the collaboration and control we need to keep up the pace."

“We are delighted with the benefits that Xyron is realizing from our solutions,” said Paul Cunningham, EVP of Worldwide Sales for PTC. “The company’s product development process validates our Product First approach and the Product Development System.”
