Procter & Gamble Awarded Enterprise Value Award by CIO Magazine for Work With MatrixOne on Innovative Product Lifecycle Management Application

ICorporate Standards System (CSS) Application Enabled P&G to Move Technical Specifications for Thousands of Consumer Products to One Global System
Westford, Mass. - February 23, 2004 - MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONE), a leading provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the value chain™ today announced that MatrixOne customer Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) has been awarded a 2004 CIO Magazine Enterprise Value Award for manufacturing. This award was given to recognize P&G's innovative MatrixOne product lifecycle management (PLM) system and the beneficial effect it had upon the company's ability to get initiatives to market quickly and at low cost.

"We are thrilled to have our team's contribution recognized by CIO Magazine," said Dan Blair, director of worldwide technical standards and systems, Procter & Gamble. "Our Corporate Standards System ("CSS") application, through our collaboration with MatrixOne, has allowed us to revolutionize the way that P&G employees and partners research, collaborate, update and use our technical specifications-increasing product quality, reducing costs and enabling us to get products to market sooner."

P&G's CSS application, created as a part of P&G's PLM implementation and built on the MatrixOne platform, manages the creation, review, approval and distribution of all technical specifications (the raw materials, packaging details, artwork, analytical standards, and process standards of a particular product). This enables researchers and purchasing employees to be more efficient, to re-use information, and to reduce material purchasing costs. In addition, plant employees worldwide now have easy access to all of the current data and documents needed to properly manufacture the product-and can rest easy that the specs they call up on their computers are the most current ones.

"Procter & Gamble's success has proven the power that PLM has to improve upon the ways companies do business," added Mike Segal, senior vice president, Customer Success, MatrixOne, Inc. "Their cost savings and productivity improvements are a perfect example for other companies to model themselves after. We're proud of our combined effort on this project and would like to extend our congratulations to P&G's team for this prestigious award."

The CIO Magazine Enterprise Value Awards are bestowed on organizations that have created information technology (IT) systems that demonstrate benefits and return on investment (ROI) across the enterprise. The IT system must be active for at least a year and is judged on strategic value, customer impact, financial return, operational efficiency and social impact.
