UGS PLM Solutions Teams With Beijing Institute of Technology To Support Mechanical & Vehicular Engineering Education Initiatives

Academic Grant Valued At US $145 Million Will Help Establish State-Of-The-Art Technology Programs At One of China’s Leading Universities

PLANO, Texas and Beijing- Januar 15, 2004 - UGS PLM Solutions, the product lifecycle management (PLM) subsidiary of EDS, today announced it has provided a grant of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software to the Mechanical & Vehicular School at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The estimated commercial value of the grant, which includes Unigraphics® NX, I-deas® NX Series, Solid Edge®, E-factory and Teamcenter® visualization tools along with training and technical support, is US $145 million.

BIT will incorporate the software into current and new curricula to help undergraduate and graduate students develop a wide range of skills in mechanical and vehicular product development. Students will gain experience with the same PLM software used by leading companies worldwide to create products and manage product lifecycles from initial concept through, design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, service and retirement. By increasing collaboration among all members of a product team, PLM fosters innovative product design and development, and helps companies bring their products to market faster.
