Agile Combines Product Lifecycle Management with IBM’s Industry-Leading Portal

Agile 9 Improves Employee Productivity Across the Extended Supply Network by Enabling Personalized, Easy Access to Product Lifecycle Information and Services via IBM’s WebSphere Portal
San Jose, CA - January 26, 2004 - Agile Software Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, announced Agile 9 platform support for IBM’s WebSphere Portal. Agile will deliver WebSphere Portal as an option for the Agile 9 PLM platform to help customers improve employee productivity across the product lifecycle. Additionally, customers already using WebSphere Portal will have the ability to incorporate Agile 9 portlets into their existing portal environments.

Agile 9 portlets deployed on WebSphere Portal provide a broad reach of product record information to users within an enterprise and to partners. Deploying portlets increases the usability for end users by empowering them to personalize the look and feel, and customize the way they view information in Agile. Agile portlets can now be deployed with information from other enterprise systems, such as ERP, enabling a single dashboard view into related product record business processes.

Support for WebSphere Portal is part of Agile’s commitment to extend Agile 9 support to the entire IBM application platform suite, including the IBM WebSphere Application Server and DB2 relational database management system.

“Agile, with its proven PLM expertise, provides an additional means to enable our customers to deliver personalized access to all of the enterprise data and services needed to optimize their processes across the extended supply network,” said Tim Thatcher, program director for WebSphere at IBM. “We look forward to building on this relationship in which Agile will extend the innovation of Agile 9 across the IBM application infrastructure stack.”

The Portal Meets PLM
“Agile's strategy is to provide manufacturing companies the ability to harness the product record as a key IT asset to drive competitive advantage, profitability, and long-term growth,” said Pierre Fricke, executive vice president, PLM infrastructure, D.H. Brown. “By using IBM's WebSphere Portal, Agile 9 enables users to access and integrate data in a user context-sensitive manner that improves productivity and enables competitive advantage.”

Agile 9 represents Agile’s most powerful and comprehensive release for managing the enterprise product record that links product knowledge to manufacturing firms’ critical business processes. Agile 9 delivers a next-generation, global enterprise PLM architecture featuring a services-oriented architecture and significant new standards-based components for integrating the product record with other business systems and processes. It also offers an extended suite of business-ready, best-practice PLM solutions for maximizing product profitability, including the first product governance and compliance solution based on the product record as an enterprise system of record.

“For manufacturing companies, where products define competitive advantage and profitability, having a single enterprise view is critical to gaining the insight needed to optimize business performance,” said Chris Wong, Agile executive vice president, products and strategy. “Agile support for the world-class IBM WebSphere Portal delivers on this demand by enabling a single, relevant view of the product across the product lifecycle—within Agile 9 and in conjunction with other enterprise information used to drive the business. In doing so, companies can realize the benefits of better business insight and best practices, including improved market responsiveness, enhanced productivity, and increased product profitability.”
