Agile and BearingPoint Help Bring Cellon Wireless Phone Designs to Market

Wireless Design and Development House Deploys Agile PLM to Complement Proven Approaches for Accelerating Time-to-Market
San Jose, CA and Paris, France - January 6, 2004 - Agile Software Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, and BearingPoint, Inc., (NYSE: BE), one of the world's largest business consulting and systems integration firms, today announced that Cellon has successfully implemented Agile Product Collaboration™.

"We deployed the Agile® solution to fully exploit process efficiencies that Cellon has achieved, including shrinking the product design cycle from eighteen months to less than six. Agile PLM acts as a central management console which can help facilitate best practices across the product lifecycle," said Yannick Le Nue, vice president of engineering at Cellon. "Faster time-to-market is the most important element of our value proposition to clients. As such, it's crucial for us to take advantage of every opportunity to streamline product design and process management, and our implementation of Agile Product Collaboration is part of this effort."

Cellon, the world's largest independent design and development house for wireless modules and terminals, has rolled out the Agile solution to hundreds of users in the design and development center of Cellon France with the support of the BearingPoint PLM team. Cellon is a leading outsourcing house for the research, development and design of wireless handsets and other devices. The firm, which has shipped nearly 14 million units since 1999, serves global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) worldwide, including Philips and Siemens-Xelibri, as well as a number of Asian companies, such as CEC, Konka and Haier, China's largest consumer electronic appliances company. Cellon's implementation in France is part of the firm's global deployment of Agile Product Collaboration to help its OEM worldwide customers bring products to market faster.

With the Agile system in place, processes that once took days can now be run in a few hours and with greater accuracy," said Alain Parent, senior director of product support, Cellon France. "The ability to bring both speed and precision to product processes is extremely important to our customers. It can literally mean the difference between first-to-market status—with its associated margin and profitability advantages—or playing catch-up."

PLM Brings Insight, Accountability, and Best Practices to Design Outsourcing
In recent years, OEMs have increasingly leveraged outsourced manufacturing models to improve their profit margins and allow them to focus on core competencies. The shift toward outsourced design services represents the next evolution in the outsourcing movement, enabling OEMs to leverage existing design capabilities. However, this trend mandates that outsourcing companies have the scale and proven ability to manage multiple product development cycles. At each phase of a product lifecycle, management of a single product record is critical to providing the process visibility that enables cost-effective decisions and accelerated cycle times.

The Agile-BearingPoint Team Contributes to Cellon's Measurable Results
"Cellon has built a unique position within the wireless communications marketplace that depends on operational excellence to maintain and grow its market share," said Jay Fulcher, president and COO, Agile. "We're pleased that Cellon is reporting measurable results from Agile's enterprise-class PLM solutions and BearingPoint's PLM process expertise, and extending product lifecycle best practices across a global network of design teams, suppliers and customers."

"Together, Agile's PLM solution expertise and BearingPoint's wealth of PLM experience in business process re-engineering and systems integration have helped Cellon enhance its internal performance," said Ewoud Huig, managing director of BearingPoint France. "With strengthened product lifecycle management capabilities, Cellon has a strategic differentiator that makes the firm an ideal supplier to OEMs who insist that their contract manufacturers add value to shared processes as well as to the products themselves."
