Agile Delivers Next Generation PLM Platform for Managing the Enterprise Product Record

Agile Announces General Availability of Agile 9
San Jose, CA - January 26, 2004 - Agile Software Corporation (Nasdaq: AGIL), a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions, today announced the general availability of Agile 9, Agile’s next-generation release for managing the enterprise product record throughout the product lifecycle. Agile 9 supports the product lifecycle business processes, technology platform, and integration requirements of companies in the aerospace and defense, automotive, consumer packaged goods, high tech and electronics, industrial products, and life sciences industries. Several Agile customers — including Harris Corporation, QUALCOMM and Sanmina-SCI — have launched deployments of Agile 9 to accelerate revenue, reduce costs, improve quality and ensure compliance. (For more information, see “Agile Introduces Agile 9,” dated November 17, 2003.)

“At QUALCOMM, we understand first-hand the tight link between the ability to manage the product record across the enterprise and our ability to drive leadership in the development and delivery of innovative digital wireless products and services,” said Norm Fjeldheim, CIO, QUALCOMM. “We’ve been a long-time supporter of leveraging technology to meet our market requirements. We look forward to the extensibility, scalability, analytics and decision support delivered with the new Agile 9 PLM platform and expect to see positive results with our adoption of Agile 9.”

Agile 9 provides a broad suite of business-ready, best-practice PLM solutions built on a unified enterprise PLM architecture. With hundreds of new customer-driven capabilities, Agile 9 features the new Agile Product Governance and Compliance solution for managing product compliance to industry standards and regulations; the expanded Agile Product Portfolio Management offering; and enhanced versions of Agile Product Collaboration, Agile Engineering Collaboration, Agile Product Cost Management, and Agile Product Service and Improvement. Agile’s n-tier architecture leverages Web services, J2EE, XML and analytics technologies to provide visibility, management, control, collaboration and decision support of common product record information across all Agile solutions. Agile 9 provides a single enterprise view of the product record across business processes and the extended enterprise — throughout the entire product lifecycle — from concept and development through launch and production to service and disposal.

“An enterprise product life cycle management strategy is the key competitive differentiator among global 2000 organizations. The winners in the next economic upturn already know this,” said Bruce Hudson, program director, META Group. “Enterprise scalability, flexibility, standards-based architecture, and decision-support features are all essential capabilities that businesses need in order to streamline processes and optimize decisions associated with the product record.”

“Agile 9 is all about our customers. We invested a significant amount of time listening to our customers to understand how we could improve the Agile solution suite to support their business priorities,” said Chris Wong, executive vice president, products and strategy. “The result is Agile’s most comprehensive release to date. With the delivery of Agile 9, our customers now have a system of unprecedented scope for leveraging the product record to drive profits, accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance.”
