General Atomics Business Growth Prompts Move To PTC Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire™ and Windchill®

Leading Private Defense Contractor Gains End-to-End Control Over Programs
Needham, MA, December 16, 2003 - PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC) today announced that General Atomics, one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development specializing in diversified R&D in defense, energy and other advanced technologies, has signed a $1.4 million agreement with PTC.  The agreement was completed in PTC’s Fiscal 2003 fourth quarter ended September 30, 2003.

The agreement, involving General Atomics and several of its affiliated companies, including General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. and General Atomics Electronic Systems Inc., provides for upgrading all Pro/ENGINEER seats to the new Flex3C Package as well as the purchase of new Flex3C seats and Windchill seats.  General Atomics also purchased additional Pro/ENGINEER modules including Pro/MECHANICA® and Pro/MANUFACTURING™.

“The successes we have achieved with PTC solutions prompted us to standardize on Pro/ENGINEER,” said John Rawls, Vice President, New Product Development at General Atomics. “As our business expands and we increase the number of designers and engineers on our projects, the collaborative capabilities of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire will be a key factor in supporting our growth.”

General Atomics’ purchase was aided by the fact that the its engineering group program managers were very impressed with Windchill ProjectLink™, and the breadth of modules provided in the Flex3C Package. They also cited the ability of Windchill to manage every stage of program development as a key factor.

“Windchill allows us to give our customers, including the U.S. Navy, access to projects and the opportunity to provide input on key areas and at key points throughout the lifecycle of the program,” said John Rawls.

“General Atomics is a great example of how PTC’s Product Development System can easily meet the ongoing needs of our customers,” said Paul Cunningham, SVP of Sales for PTC. “It is helping to drive their business growth and success and we are delighted to be a part of that success.”
