Yazaki North America, Inc. Selects Matrix10 to Support Automotive Product Development Process

Leading Tier One Automotive Supplier Uses Matrix10 Product Lifecycle Management Solutions to Speed Collaboration Efforts
Westford, Mass. - December 16, 2003 - MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONE), a leading provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the value chain™, today announced that Yazaki North America, Inc. (Yazaki), a leading Tier One automotive supplier of vehicle power and data solutions, is currently implementing its initial deployment of MatrixOne solutions and is expanding its usage to include additional users and functional areas. Yazaki is using Matrix10™, the industry's most flexible PLM environment, to streamline product development efforts by allowing different teams within Yazaki to collaborate together earlier in the development process.

Yazaki will use the Matrix PLM Platform™ and several of MatrixOne's Collaborative Applications, including MatrixOne Engineering Central™, MatrixOne Document Central™, MatrixOne Team Central™, MatrixOne Program Central™ and MatrixOne Supplier Central™ to help establish corporate-wide best practices for managing product lifecycles and provide a single, unified view into all of its BOM (bill of materials) and engineering data across disparate systems and departments. These capabilities alone will help Yazaki reduce product development time by giving them visibility across programs, maximizing part re-use and reducing engineering change orders (ECOs). One of the world's largest privately owned corporations, Yazaki represents a significant automotive business opportunity and further strengthens MatrixOne's position as a leading product collaboration solution provider to the automotive industry.

"The product development needs of our globally expansive OEM customers required Yazaki to increase our collaborative efforts in all functional areas of the company. This was a particularly daunting task since Yazaki employs multiple systems using different legacy software, hardware and data sources," said David Conrad, vice president of information technology for Yazaki North America. "We required a solution that was open, flexible and easy to deploy. We selected MatrixOne because we have confidence in their products' ability to meet the varied global and regional requirements throughout Yazaki."

MatrixOne's product collaboration solution includes excellent out-of-the-box functionality for fast implementation with minimal custom modifications and extremely robust and flexible data management capabilities. "In the automotive industry, collaboration across the product lifecycle - internally and throughout the value chain - is the key to success," said John Fleming, vice president of marketing for MatrixOne. "Using MatrixOne PLM solutions, Yazaki North America will have a single, unified view into all of its product development activities and will be able to compete more effectively on a global scale by quickly delivering the right products to its customers on time and at lower cost."
