Press reports May 2000 deal with EDM/PDM
Eindhoven (The Netherlands) and Paris (France), May 31, 2000 -
IBM* and Dassault Systemes announced today that Philips Semiconductors is implementing ENOVIAPM** to manage product data in conjunction with the company’s Semiconductors Product Information Network (SPINE) project. The initial agreement represents 40 ENOVIAPM seats, as well as IBM services and training.
The SPINE database comprises 150,000 items related to 32,000 products. In the project’s first phase, all organizations within Philips Semiconductors can request real-time bills of material (BOMs) for any product, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any company location. Using ENOVIAPM to manage the data makes the product information error-free, because modifications to product structures (which comprise BOMs) are taken into account immediately as they are filed. Currently, about 100 users worldwide use the SPINE system.
